Wellington AFC 4, Bridport 2

WELLINGTON made it back-to-back wins with an impressive 4-2 victory over Bridport, in their final home match of the season on Saturday.

Coming into the match with confidence, having beaten Hengrove Athletic 5-0 the week before, the Tangerines bounced back from conceding the first goal to secure the three points.

Bridport went ahead after 19 minutes, when Tim Legg's back-pass eluded goalkeeper Josh Mclean and went in for an own goal.

Only one down at half-time thanks to some fine keeping from Mclean, the hosts were 2-1 up within six minutes of the restart.

First, Jack Bryant's cross went in via the far post, and then Joe Wylie crossed for Joe Chamberlain to put his side ahead.

Ex-Taunton Town centre-back Chris McGrath was then saw red with 20 minutes to go, for a last-man tackle on Conor Bryant, and 10 minutes after that Wellington exploited the man advantage – Chamberlain netting his second after a fine move.

Youngsters Wylie and Lewis Pocock combined for the latter to score on 89 minutes, before Kameron Andrews netted a consolation for the visitors in injury time.

The Tangerines sit 14th in the table and travel to local rivals Bridgwater Town this Friday (ko 1pm).

Bishops Lydeard 3, Sherborne Town 1

BISHOPS Lydeard came from behind to secure a fourth consecutive home win, against Sherborne Town on Saturday.

The day got off to a very bad start, as Pete Ireland scored for the visitors after just two minutes, after some poor defending from the home side.

The game was end-to-end for the rest of the first half, but Lydeard found an equaliser through a 21st minute shot by Zac Ryder which bobbled over the keeper's hand.

In the second half Lydeard were dominant, thanks to an inspirational display of footwork, accurate passing and quick breaks by Douglas Camilo, their Brazilian midfielder on loan from Taunton Town.

The hosts went ahead in the 52nd minute, when Ryan Brereton slammed home a cross from the left.

It was all Lydeard at this point and the visitors defence crumbled from the onslaught of shots from the home attack.

In the 81st minute Jake Quick broke down the left and his cross was slotted home by Brereton.

The game got a little feisty in the last 10 minutes, and with a minute left Sherborne's Haydn Hodges was dismissed for a cynical foul on Camilo.

Now 12th in the table, Lydeard are away to Chard Town on Friday (ko noon).
