Clevedon Town 4, Wellington AFC 0

WELLINGTON were no match for Clevedon Town as they feel to a heavy defeat in their final match of the 2018/19 season.

Joe Chamberlain was thwarted by home goalkeeper Archie Ferris early on, but the hosts went ahead on 25 minutes – Sam Bell scoring with a curling effort – and they did not look back from there.

Glen Wright tested Ferris at the other end, but after Vince Harper had rattled the Wellington crossbar, it was 2-0 when Ryan Jones netted with a left-footed shot in the 70th minute.

Substitute Lucas Vowles scored with his first touch on 74 minutes, and Bell wrapped it up with a goal on the rebound.

Wellington finish the season in 16th place, with 12 wins from 38 games, and a total of 39 points.

Wells City 0, Bishops Lydeard 0

THERE were two major difficulties for these two teams to overcome on Saturday.

The first was the variable bounce of the ball, the other the strong wind gusting down the pitch towards the city end of the ground.

The two teams were evenly matched and they provided an interesting afternoon's entertainment despite the lack of goals.

Wells had a good effort saved by Nathan Whatley in the Lydeard goal in the 14th minute.

Lydeard's best effort in the first half came from Ryan Brereton's 42nd-minute effort which went just wide of the upright.

Lydeard kept the pressure on the Wells keeper with plenty of shots but they could not find the net.

At the other end Whatley did well to keep out a strong shot in the 80th minute.

In the end a draw was a fair result and both teams were happy to keep a clean sheet.

Lydeard finish the season in 12th place after their strong end of season form.
