League Knockout Cup
Bridgwater Sports 0, Bishops Lydeard Reserves 3
BISHOPS Lydeard Reserves completed the Invest Taunton Saturday League and Cup double after beating Bridgwater Sports 3-0 in the KO Cup final played at Bridgwater Town FC on Tuesday night.
The Bishops took an early lead from a Rhys Ford low strike and held their 1-0 at half time.
Sports were awarded a penalty on 55 minutes but Lydeard 'keeper Dave Barrel made an outstanding outstretched save to his right to maintain the lead.
The Bishops built a period of pressure with a flowing move leading to Charlie Purvis being hacked down with captain Pat Sherwood dispatching an unstoppable penalty.
Substitute Jack Kelly glancing header from another pin point free-kick from Cahal Robertson sealed the win in the closing stages.
The Bishops have a chance to make it a treble winning season when they travel to Wells City FC on Thursday, May 9, to play Frome Collegians, who are champions of the Mid Somerset League in the final of the Somerset Junior Cup (7.30pm).
