TAUNTON Town secured a third consecutive victory on Monday afternoon, with a 3-1 win at home to neighbours Tiverton Town.

Matt Wright converted a Jamie Short cross-shot to put the Peacocks ahead in the 27th minute, and Shane White fired in from the edge of the box 10 minutes later.

Bristol City loanee Zac Smith made it 3-0 on 50 minutes, from Andrew Neal's cross, and although Steve Colwell pulled one back in the 68th minute, the hosts collected the three points and the derby day bragging rights.

Player ratings

Lloyd Irish - 7

The solid display you have come to expect from the Taunton goalkeeper. Decisive in coming for crosses and communicated well with his centre-backs. Powerless to prevent Tiverton's goal.

Jamie Short - 7

A bit of a mixed bag from Short against his old club. A few passes went awry in the first half, but he won the ball, overlapped Neal and sprinted to clear to send the ball across for Wright's crucial opening goal.

Lewis Hall - 6

Ever-willing to get forward and offer an option on the left. Made a couple of good interceptions, but left space behind for Tiverton to exploit a couple of times, and was replaced by Webb just after the hour.

Ben Adelsbury - 7

Another good performance from this classy operator at the back. Won his share of tackles and aerial balls to contribute to a fine defensive display from the hosts.

Ed Palmer - 8

A terrific display. Always seemed to be in the right place to head clear or intervene when the visitors threatened to work an opportunity. A couple of challenges he had to win to prevent a run on goal, and he did.

Jamie Price - 8

Up against the team he left to re-join Taunton in the summer, Price was always going to be under the spotlight. One cheap concession of possession aside, he was on top form in performing his defensive duties – and threatening from set-pieces – especially given he was up against the tricky Chris Shephard for much of the match.

Shane White - 8

Mr Consistent ran things in the centre of midfield, before moving out to right wing-back when Brett came on. Energetic, intelligent on the ball and confident in his finish which put Taunton two up.

Harry Kite - 7

Another busy display from the Exeter City loanee, who would often swap midfield/attacking midfield positions with Smith. Did his share of the work to shield the defence, and assisted White's goal with a pass across the penalty area.

Matt Wright - 7

The captain is in great goalscoring form, with four in his last three games, and he did well to follow in Short's cross-shot and put his side ahead. Won his customary aerial duels, and worked hard to put the Tiverton defence under pressure.

Zac Smith - 8

A smart player, with clear quality on the ball, but never afraid to get stuck in. Rewarded for his hard work with a well-taken goal, and one pass over the defence to Neal with the outside of his boot was just sublime.

Andrew Neal - 7

No goals today, but boy can this lad run. He hassled and harried, and had a hand in Taunton's first and third goals. Such is his quality in front of goal, I was shocked when he was unable to beat Lewis Williams in a one-on-one.

Bradley Webb - 6

Replaced Hall on 62 minutes. Provided the stability on the left of defence which Taunton needed after conceding.

Ryan Brett - 6

Came on for Short on 69 minutes. Slotted into the centre of midfield and was a cool head under the pressure applied by Tiverton as they sought a second goal to make it a nervy finish.

Dan Sullivan - 7

Replaced Wright on 75 minutes. The shot in the arm the Peacocks needed, as they began to sag in the latter stages. Worked hard, asked questions of the visitors' defence and should have had an assist, after putting Neal in on goal.
