A BIG weekend of rugby begins in Taunton on Friday night (7.45pm) as the Titans host Clifton in a top-of-the-table National 2 South clash.

Both sides have won six of their opening seven games, with the Titans now level on points with Tonbridge at the summit following the leaders’ defeat last weekend.

Titans head coach Tony Yapp said: “Taunton against Clifton games are always close and this will be no different.

“They have had a great start and are a well coached unit, so we know it will be very tough.

“Tonbridge losing to Henley has shown all the teams in this league are beatable and has made things exciting at the top.

“It is great to have this game on a Friday to allow fans that can’t do Saturdays the chance to come and watch - we’ll hope for a big crowd to cheer us on.”

Taunton welcome back Dan Lee, who missed last weekend’s 54-27 victory at Westcliff and is set to replace Charlie Williams after the flanker picked up a knock in training this week.

That aside, Yapp is hoping to name a similar squad to the one which enjoyed success in Southend - they will then have a free weekend to enjoy the World Cup semi-finals.
