THE 2019/20 season begins at Taunton Racecourse tomorrow afternoon, with a seven-race Hallowe'en Meeting which gets going at 1.30pm.

With the 70 runners declared and a going of good, good to firm in places, an exciting afternoon of National Hunt racing action looks to be in store.

All of the leading trainers – including Paul Nicholls, David Pipe, Phillip Hobbs, Dan Skelton, David Bridgwater and Neil Mulholland – have horses running, while top jockeys Tom Scudamore, Sam Twiston-Davies, Nick Schofield and Daryl Jacobs are all booked to ride.

The first of the two chases on the card, over two miles at 3pm, with prize money of £11,800, is likely to be a battle between Way out West under James Best and Pointed and Sharp, trained by Hobbs and ridden by Michael Nolan.

The most valuable race of the afternoon is Confined Handicap Hurdle at 3.30pm, a Class 3 event, which has total prize money of £13,300 up for grabs.

Local jockey Scudamore, on Bridgwater-trained Coby Nine, looks likely to be well backed in this race.

Accompanied Under-18s go free and there is a courtesy coach service that departs from the main entrance on Taunton Railway Station 90 minutes ahead of the first race and returns 30 minutes after the start of the last.
