Somerset Division 1
Parkfield 55, Avalon 24

GALMINGTON Parkfield met with Avalon for the second time this season.

Their first meeting was a close encounter with Parkfield winning the game by a small margin of two goals, having lost to Avalon twice during the previous season.

The first quarter saw both teams coming out strongly and settling into their combinations, with Parkfield coming out on top by two goals at the end of quarter time.

With some strong defensive pressure and confident attacking plays, the Galmington team were able to extend their lead to be up by 11 at half-time.

Following a focused team talk and with a commitment to demonstrate their versatility, Parkfield fielded players in different positions for the second half, giving the opposition even more to think about.

Some accurate and consistent shooting saw Parkfield pull away to lead 37-20 by the end of the third quarter and to go on to win the match 55-24.

This was certainly a composed and patient performance by all the Parkfield team, with Nicky Ferguson taking Player of the Match for her excellent work in attack and Jessie Smyth-Lees taking Opposition Player of the match after demonstrating great strength and consistency in the shooting circle.
