TAUNTON Town have confirmed the signing of a second striker, as Gethyn Hill joins Toby Holmes at the club for next season.

Hill came through the ranks at Cardiff City and represented Wales Under-19s, before joining Cinderford Town for the 2016/17 season.

He moved on to Weston-super-Mare, where he remained (aside from a loan spell at Hereford) until joining Merthyr Town for the 2019/20 campaign.

Last season saw the 25-year-old score five goals in 22 league appearances for the Martyrs.

Taunton head of football Rob Dray told the County Gazette: "Gethyn has National League experience, he's 6 foot 2 and superb with his back to goal, and he's mobile.

"He's a down to earth lad, and is keen to get going."

Hill and Holmes essentially fill the gap left by the departed Andrew Neal and Matt Wright, and with two new strikers leading the line, Dray said "we need to evolve and will look at how we do things".

He added: "Those two up front will be dangerous for any defence, and will score goals.

"They're different in how they play - Gethyn likes to play with his back to goal and brings others into play, while Toby wants to play on the shoulder of defenders.

"But they tick all the boxes for Non-League football."
