TAUNTON Town's home match with Salisbury, scheduled for tonight, has been postponed.

The rainfall brought by Storm Alex was responsible for several matches being called off across Somerset at the weekend, and the downpours have continued into this week.

Taunton chairman and head groundsman Kevin Sturmey had already indicated his concern over the Southern League fixture, with the Cygnet Health Care Stadium pitch absorbing "around four inches" over the weekend.

A pitch inspection was to be arranged, and the decision has now been made to postpone the game.

That means Taunton's next match is away to Farnborough on Saturday (3pm).
