SOMERSET'S Craig Overton has been called up into the England squad for the five-Test series against India.
Overton was drafted into the squad after Ben Stokes pulled out to "take an indefinite break from all cricket with immediate effect".
Stokes will prioritise his mental wellbeing and rest his left index finger which has not fully healed, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in a statement.
The first match of the India series starts at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, on Wednesday (August 4).
Overton, 27, who has played four Tests for England, joins fellow Somerset player Jack Leach and former team mate Dom Bess in the 17-man squad.
Ex Somerset wicket keepr batsman Jos Buttler is also in the squad.
