SOMERSET County Cricket Club's Craig Overton has been recalled to the England test side for the match against India at Headingley.

The right arm pace bowler is playing his first test for England since 2019.

He has taken Mark Wood's place in the England side after Wood sustained a shoulder injury.

After news of Wood's injury surfaced, pundits and fans both saw Overton and Lancashire quick Saqib Mahmood as potential replacements.

However the ECB have selected Overton who has been in some good form for Somerset.

He has taken 37 wickets in the LV=Insurance County Championship so far this season and will hope to continue that form in the test match.

India won the previous test match at Lord's by 151 runs.
