TAUNTON Town have recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory over Walton Casuals at the Cygnet Heath Care Stadium this afternoon in the Southern League.

Goals from Gethyn Hill, Dan Sullivan and Ben Adelsbury sealed the victory in front of a very loud and very proud home crowd.

Manager Rob Dray said post match that this performance was very impressive from his side.

"We put them to the sword today, I think we dominated the whole match in every way, in and out of possession we were superb.

"The way we went about our business, we played it short, we played it long, we mixed it up really well, our intesnity was superb," Dray said.

The match was a heated encounter with four yellow cards, two for each side, and there were a number of fouls given from the referee.

In the early stages Walton pushed for a goal and they created some good chances but Bristol City loanee Will Buse made some good saves for Taunton.

There was a chance for Dan Sullivan early however his rocket of a shot just missed the target.

After the early tensions had settled most of the chances came through the Peacocks and on 27 minutes they took the lead through a brilliant Gethyn Hill strike.

The in-form striker set himself just inside the box and nicely shot the ball into the corner of the next.

Walton Casuals goalkeeper Jacob Adams denied a second goal shortly after with an incredible point blank save.

In to the second half and again Taunton had all the chances, captain Dan Sullivan unleased a ferocious strike from outside the box to make it 2-0 after 54 minutes.

 

There was a constant stream of fouls and some more top quality saves from Adams that kept Walton in the game.

However all doubt was removed when Ben Adelsbury volleyed the ball home from the near post from a Lee Lucas corner in the 84th minute.

The match was well and truly over now and the fans made sure to let the players know they appreciated the performance, the noise was emphatic.
