Metropolitan Police 1-2 Taunton Town
TAUNTON Town recovered from going behind to secure a very important 1-2 win away at Metropolitan Police this afternoon.
After the win, the Peacocks now sit equal first place on the table with Hayes & Yeading but behind them on goal difference.
Importantly though, Town have a game in hand over Hayes and a win in that game would send them clear by three points.
Neither side could break through in a goalless first half before Met Police went ahead after 69 minutes when Louis Birch headed in from George Frith’s free kick.
The Peacocks responded when Toby Holmes swept home the equaliser on 75 minutes and continued his strong goalscoring season.
Then, in the 83rd minute, Jay Foulston’s corner fell loose at the far post for Joe Budd to net the winner and send the travelling fans wild.
The destiny of the title is still in Town’s hands as they prepare for another crucial match at home to Yate Town on Tuesday evening.
Kick off is 7.45pm.
