Taunton District U15's 2-0 Yeovil District U15's

ON a warm bright sunny day at Bridgwater & Taunton College 3G, these two District teams went head-to-head in the Cup Final.

Both sides had been on course to meet each other in a final before COVID 19 interrupted proceedings.

In the first period both sides created opportunities with TDSFA skipper Preston Hopwood having two good chances, however found the Yeovil keeper alert and able to deny the goal. Yeovil themselves had chances to disrupt the TDSFA defence but were equally denied by a combination of Dom Hawkins in goal, plus stout defending by Ryan James, Wes Jenkins, Sam Sharif and Louie Ward.

Yeovil arguably had a few more forays into the TDSFA half as they invested lots of energy. Jenkins, Sharif & Townsend having to manage the physical battle, but for all that TDSFA had cleaner moments going the other way hitting the post on one such occasion.

In the second period the midfield of Sascha Bament, Alfie Lyons & Eddie Townsend started to go through the gears winning the majority of battles to link together the attack. Alex Tucker also added an element of solid composure with a good eye for a pass.

The first goal came when Hopwood who along with Willis have great work ethic for their positions stretched his marker and delivered an inch perfect pass for the timely run of Cox. Cox finished superbly and as the ball hit the back of the net you could visibly see TDSFA grow that bit more confident and capable 1-0.

Not long after the second goal was scored, this time Cox turned provider cutting the ball back from being forced wide by the Yeovil keeper, Lyons who burst through the bodies finished the move capping of a good second half display 2-0.

When the final whistle blew it was a deserved Taunton District Schools win.

Teachers Mo Hopkins was rightly pleased to see the U15s win, plus full of praise for the two TDSFA old boys taking the reigns to top off a good win for association.
