TAUNTON St Andrews defeated Taunton Deane by 6 wickets through Duckworth Lewis at the weekend.
The derby win for the Saints means they now sit in 7th place in the WEPL and Deane are now 9th.
On a rainy and gloomy Saturday, this was the only fixture in the WEPL that ended in a result other than abandoned.
After winning the toss, St Andrews elected to field first in the away match for them at the Convent Field.
Deane openers Harry Smith and Sam Wyatt both struggled to get going and the pair were both dismissed after just 12 deliveries.
Edward Mellor top scored for Taunton Deane with 66 runs off 74 balls which featured 12 fours.
Edward Middleton also scored a half century for the hosts with 52 runs off 105 balls. He hit 6 fours in his knock.
Matthew Liberman had the best bowling figures for the Saints as he took 5 wickets for 22 runs in his 10 overs.
In reply, with the rain coming down, Saints revised target was 98 runs off 27 overs. This was agreed after rain stopped play.
James Rew shone once again with 55 runs from 54 balls, hitting 9 fours in the process.
His knock was aided by a few others batsman adding solid runs throughout.
Both the captains and the umpires agreed to the Duckworth Lewis rule come the end of play and Saint Andrews had won.
