TAUNTON St Andrews bounced back to winning when they recorded a crucial home victory over Thornbury who started the day one place above them in the Prem One table.

After choosing the bat first Saints openers gave their side a dream start adding 135 together before Steve Tinnion was out for 82 in the 18th over his runs coming off 61 balls with 10 fours and four sixes.

New batsman Jacob Hockey made 22 and helped to take the total to 183. James Regan joined the other opener Jay Terry who took his score onto 70 when he was LBW with the total onto 207, his runs coming off 81 balls with nine fours. Regan and Lloyd Alley saw up the 250 before the latter was out for 22.

Thomas Rew then came in and hit an unbeaten 35 off 27 balls with two fours and two sixes and Matt Liberman made 20 to help see Saints to 327 for eight off their 50 overs.

Danny Slade with three for 70 off 10 overs was the pick of the bowlers.

Thornbury started quickly when they replied and had moved onto 30 when Liberman accounted for Josh Riggs.

Ed Webb made 30 and helped add 53 for the second wicket with Vishal Mamgai before Justin Burke trapped him LBW. Josh Slade was then run out by Alley after which Mamgai helped to see Thornbury onto 124 when he was leg before to Luke Poole for 32.

Two more wickets fell quickly before James Tunnicliff with 21 and Logan Bowden who made 12 added 33 before both fell to Toby Williams- Thomas which made Thornbury 162 for nine.

The last wicket pair then fought back strongly and added 58 before Alley caught and bowled Anir Sanat for 30 leaving Thomas Vermaak 23 not out as Thornbury were all out for 220 in 47.1 overs.

Williams-Thomas with three for 34 and Poole with three for 37 were the pick of the Saints bowlers.
