Concord Rangers 1-0 Taunton Town

TAUNTON Town fought hard but were narrowly beaten 1-0 away from home against Concord Rangers today (Saturday, August 13).

In their first away match in the National League South, Taunton travelled the 198 miles ahead of the 3pm kick off.

In the early exchanges of the match, neither side took control and there were very few chances.

Taunton had an early corner inside the first ten minutes however failed to threaten.

After a drinks break in the 25th minute, Concord Rangers started to gain the upper hand in the encounter.

Nana Kyei was the danger man as he carved out an opportunity for himself but it was saved well by Bycroft in the Town net.

Ricky Modeste also challenged the Taunton goal soon after but saw his shot hit the side net.

In the 35th minute the home side were awarded a penalty which was calmly converted by Ben Williamson.

At the break the score was 1-0 to the hosts and as the second period began, it was clear to see they wanted to hold on to that lead.

In the second period Taunton pushed further up the pitch and there was good chances for Nick McCootie and Ross Stearn however Minter in goal for the hosts was on hand to keep it out.

As time went on, Concord sat deeper and Town pushed higher but there would be no more goals.

A tough defeat for Taunton, who for large parts of the game were perhaps the better side.
