Taunton Town 2-1 Dartford

TAUNTON Town had to fight hard and come from behind but they claimed their first win in the National League South in a 2-1 win against Dartford.

The home match for Town was a tight encounter as both sides created chances however goals from David Sims-Burgess and Ross Stearn earned the win.

It must be said that Ollie Chamberlain, playing at right wingback, had a standout performance which earned him man of the match.

After the match, manager Rob Dray said: "I think it is a great day for the club, our first National League win, just two weeks into the season.

"I thought we were magnificent today, the win was thoroughly deserved as we controlled large parts of the game."

In the early exchanges of the match the visitors were perhaps on top but Taunton calmed and found their feet.

Chances came for both sides but the it looked as though it would be 0-0 at the break.

However the deadlock was broken in the 38th minute after a mix up between Dan Ball and Jake Bycroft allowed Rodari to stroll past them both and play it into an empty net.

In the second period Ross Stearn and Harry Warwick replaced Joe Budd and Nat Jarvis. The new pair provided some added spark that was needed for Taunton.

Taunton scored their first goal of the season in the 76th minute as Sims-Burgess was gifted the ball in the box and efficiently placed it into the back of the net.

As the Town fans were singing 'how bad must you be, we scored against you', the players continued on the attack.

Ollie Chamberlian beat his man on the wing and crossed sharply into the box as Ross Stearn pipped his marker to ball and it beat the keeper.

The Taunton fans erupted with jubilation and the players managed to hold on to their lead until the final whistle.

After going three games without a goal, Taunton found two in two minutes. A well earned three points.
