Taunton Town 3-1 Chippenham Town

OVER 1,100 fans turned out to watch Taunton Town defeat Chippenham Town in the National League South today (Monday, August 29).

It was another strong home performance for the Peacocks as from start to finish they looked the better side and the 3-1 scoreline was a fair reflection.

Goals came through Jake Wannell, Ollie Chamberlain and an own goal for Taunton in the win.

The first of which came in the 11th minute when Jay Foulston broke down the left win to cut it back inside and Luke Russe turned the ball into his own net.

Despite remaining on top for the rest of the first half, Town could not find the net again. Chippenham struggled to really create chances in the first half.

However early in the second they levelled the scores as in the 50th minute Cane Bradbury found the back of the net with a curling effort.

Taunton responded very well to that and just two minutes later Jake Wannell sent them back in front with a fine headed effort.

Ten minutes later the ball fell to Ollie Chamberlain on the edge of the box and he drilled it into the top corner. An amazing strike to make it 3-1.

Taunton kept their shape and stayed in control until the final whistle, a top effort from the Peacocks who now move to 11th in the National League South table.

Up next is an away trip to Hungerford Town on Saturday, September 3. Kick off is 3pm.
