Hungerford Town 0-1 Taunton Town

THE Peacocks performed incredibly well away from home to record their first away win in the National League South.

Hungerford Town pressed hard after going a goal down late in the first half however the Taunton defence was solid and they held on to the win.

The goal came from left back Jay Foulston in the 45th minute; the ball was played across the box to him on the left and he composed himself to finish.

It was a tense start to the match for the visitors though as Hungerford looked to pounce early, helped by a loud home crowd.

But the Peacocks weathered an early storm and grew into the game creating chances for themselves.

Lloyd James, Nat Jarvis and Ollie Chamberlain all had shots saved or go narrowly wide for Taunton.

The goal gave Taunton a narrow lead at the break and as expected the hosts came out firing in the second period.

They pushed and pressed but the back five from Taunton stayed firm and all played incredibly to not only stop Hungerford attacks but move the ball on to set up attacks of their own.

David Sims-Burgess came close in the 55th minute and soon after substitute Nick McCootie fired on target but it was saved.

In the 72nd minute, midfielder Lee Lucas was replaced after picking up an injury. An update on this to follow.

Late in the game Taunton looked to score when they could but stayed strong at the back and despite the pressure they held on to the three points.

A happy trip back to Somerset for both fans and players as Taunton Town move to ninth place in the table after seven fixtures.
