After the disappointment and frustration of losing the valuable Portman Cup meeting last month racing returns at Taunton Racecourse on Tuesday, February 7, where the first of the action is due to post at 2pm.

The card, which has a total of £65,200 on offer in prizes, includes two chases the most valuable and the longest of which is the Arthur and Peggy White Memorial Handicap Steeple Chase, at 3pm a Class three event over two miles seven furlongs which has a prize pot of £16,500 up for grabs.

The other chase is The Stables Business Park Novices’ Handicap Steeple Chase over two miles two furlongs at 4pm.

Racegoers are reminded that they can take advantage of the very generous discounted prices on offer by purchasing their tickets online in advance before 12 noon on the day prior to racing.

A courtesy coach service departs from outside Platform five of Taunton Railway Station 90 minutes before the off returning from the course half an hour after the start of the last race.

With eight meetings still to look forward to Taunton are offering half season membership at a very generous £135, which includes all the reciprocals until the August 30, or half season season ticket for £108.

Looking further ahead Taunton will be hosting their ever popular Gold Cup and Grand National Lunches on Friday March 17 and Saturday 15th April respectively, when the package comprises a welcome drink, two course lunch, afternoon tea, in-house book maker and racing host. Each lunch is priced at £39 or £70 for both.
