The new look Somerset County Cricket Club 2022-23 Almanac that has just been published is a must for all devotees of the summer game.

 

This year it is bigger and brighter and contains a lot more pages and coloured photographs, all of which means that once you pick it up and start reading its hard to put down!

 

Contained within the 132 packed pages are detailed reports of each of the Cidermen’s championship T20 and 50 over competition matches along with action photographs. In addition there is a section dedicated to Somerset Second XI including match details and averages.

 

There is also a section dedicated to the Western Storm with match reports and details along with averages from their competitions, as well as match details from the Somerset Women’s team.The book also contains reports and pictures from the Somerset Pathway.

 

This year’s edition sees the return of Somerset CCC records and there is a page dedicated to each of the three current domestic competitions, illustrated by some of county’s past heroes.

 

The almanac also contains a variety of articles including some by guest writer all of which make interesting reading. 

 

Vic Marks writes about James Hildreth’s retirement, Richard Latham reflects on James Rew’s breakthrough season, Sam Dalling recounts  Rilee Rossouw’s record breaking season, Stephen Lamb salutes Tom Abell’s first 1000 runs season, Anthony Gibson gives his view of the season while Pete Trego pens an affectionate tribute to Max Waller.

 

There is also a full round up of all of the recreational cricket that has taken place in the county over the past season including reports from the Somerset Disability and Somerset Visually Impaired teams, the Somerset Seniors teams, the Somerset Cricket Foundation Major Minor and Intermediate Cup Finals. 

 

Each of the recreational cricket leagues has a report along with full coverage of all the youth leagues that run through the summer.

 

The almanac contains the 2023 fixtures, so while the reader is reliving the memories of the past they can plan their summer.
