Former England and Somerset cricketer Jan Godman recently called into the Somerset Cricket Museum at the Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton.

Goodman was there to deliver items that were formerly owned by her late mother Pat Siderfin, who was also a well known cricketer, to add to the Women’s and Girls Cricket display, which is located on the on first floor.

Goodman played in two Women’s Test Matches and seven Women’s One Day Internationals as well over 100 List A and 19 T20 matches for Somerset.

Among the items was a picture and scorecard form a Somerset Girls under-15s match against Kent in the 2002 county championship semi-final, at King Edwards School in Bath.

On this occasion Somerset were without one of their best players Steph Davies who had an England training commitment and among those who played was a young Anya Shrubsole, who was around 10 at the time.

This was in the first year of the Somerset Girls teams and to reach the semi-final they had already beaten Devon, Hampshire and Essex on their way to the last four.

Another item that was donated was the Women’s Cricket under-17 National Championship Trophy, which was won by The West and as this was the final year of the competition Somerset hold the cup in perpetuity.

Currently Somerset Cricket Museum is looking to update the Women’s and Girls display and refocus it on Somerset / Western Storm, and would love to hear from any readers who could loan or donate Women’s Cricket Memorabilia.

The Somerset Cricket Museum has also started to add biographical details of Somerset Women Cricketers to the website and anyone with any details and or photos could again get in touch.
