AFTER Taunton Town's home defeat against Farnborough on Tuesday night, we caught up with head of football Rob Dray.

He said the match was of course a disappointing outcome but one that he hopes the players can learn from.

"We were pretty flat for large parts of the game but we did manage to keep ourselves in it.

"When you get chances like you did against a very good side, you need to take them, goals change games massively.

"Those goals were two avoidable goals tonight, we need to do better really. They came down and did a job on us tonight to be fair, I have no real complaints about that.

"The better team one at the end of the day, sometimes you need to hold your hands up."

On the topic of Taunton's current home form, Dray said teams are starting to come to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium happy to take a point.

"In the National League, it is a proper level of football now, so more teams realise how tough it is to take points here in Taunton.

"That means teams are coming here happy to take a point, and in this game's case, Farnborough got all three."

He added: "In fairness we held our own for some parts and created chances against a very stubborn defence, but again, we ned to do better in future."

Two strikers were missing through injury in the match, Dray said that made it harder.

"Take two forwards out of our team and of course that makes a difference for us.

"We still made chances and probably should have scored one or two, Jarvis and Stearn both did enough to score.

"However it is a lot of ifs and buts, and unfortunately it is too late for that. Every team has injuries this time of year in fairness."

Looking forward, Taunton take on Havant and Waterlooville this Saturday.

Dray said: "Totally different game this weekend, obviously we upset them a couple of weeks ago and they will be looking to get one back on us.

"Plastic pitch as well so selection will be key, we need some fresh legs. We will dust ourselves down and reflect very quickly.

"We will keep churning it out and go there this weekend looking for hree points. We know it will be a tough ask though."
