AFTER Taunton Town's 1-0 win over Concord Rangers on Tuesday, manager Rob Dray made clear how important the three points were.

"It was imperative that we won that match tonight, even though I am not a big believer in must win games, but today was very important we won.

"It was a game in hand, they are bottom of the table, awful game to watch in fairness, but we won."

He added how please he is of the squad of players.

"I am really pleased for the players, they put in so much on Saturday against Ebbsfleet, there is always that danger that when you play the best team, you use all your adrenaline, and the following match can be an anti-climax.

"But we had to do a job in this game and the players did that job. We got it done, got the three points. Very happy."

Lee Lucas put in a solid performance in the match, scoring the winning goal. This game came after he was shown a red card at the weekend.

"Lee felt that after his rash challenge on Saturday, he owed the boys and he paid us back tonight with a great performance.

"I am pleased for Lee, he is a great lad and I am glad he is playing again."

Dray wanted to point out how thin the squad is going forward.

"We are doing our best, however the squad is thin at the moment.

"We have a couple of suspensions and a few players still with knocks and injuries.

"We haven't got huge numbers, that is for sure, but what we have got is heart, togetherness and spirit and a lot of the times those things get you through.

"All of our players have quality and workrate and that can be seen in their efforts on the pitch."

Finally, speaking on the teams targets of staying in this division, Dray said: "We are nearly there.

"This was a massive three points for us, at the start of the season our goal was 50 points, we are four points away from that with eight games to go.

"We still have work to do but we are showing we an match it in this league and we will aim to do that again on Friday in Bath."
