National League South: Taunton Town 0-3 Hungerford Town

A JADED Peacocks’ performance saw them lose 3-0 to Hungerford Town in the Vanarama National League South on Tuesday, writes Andy Power.

The die was cast after Taunton made a terrible start, finding themselves two goals down inside the first five minutes, much to the delight of the travelling Hungerford fans.

A Michael Fernandes shot found the corner of the net after just 45 seconds before Jake Evans doubled Hungerford’s lead from the penalty spot after five minutes following an award for handball.

Jake Wannell’s header hit the bar immediately afterwards, but the relegation-threatened visitors were the sharper side and added a third goal after 58 minutes when a free kick wasn’t cleared and Joe Boachie prodded home from close range.

Town came close to reducing the arrears, however the damage had already been done on a disappointing night at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium.
