PLAYERS, volunteers and fans were honoured for their work and dedication to the club at the recent Taunton Town FC Awards Dinner.

It was a great night, held at Taunton Rugby Club, as everyone involved at the club was able to look back at a historic first season in the National League South.

The evening was hosted by two members of the club's media team, Paul Smith and Jake Crump.

Head of football Rob Dray and chairman Kevin Sturmey addressed the audience, speaking on how they felt the season went.

Sturmey said: "We have shown we can compete in the National League, and we had a lot thrown at us last season.

“While there is no football being played the work never stops here at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium.

"It’s probably the busiest month of the year in terms of planning, sponsorships, partnerships, player contracts, stadium works, pitch renovations and having a few days off!"

Loan-goalkeeper Jack Bycroft swept up the two big awards of the night, Supporters' Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year.

Captain Nick Grimes won the Press Writers' Player of the Year, while Goal of the Season went to Jay Foulston.

Zach Smith, Nick Grimes and Ollie Chamberlain were thanked for reaching milestone appearance numbers for the club. Smith also won the Champagne Moments award for most player of the matches.

Off the pitch, the Tom Harris Clubman of the Year award was presented to club photographer Debbie Gould.

The Ernie Price Memorial Cup went to Anthony Cornish, club physio.

Callum Bailey won the Supporter of the Year award, while Mark Timbury and Greg Galpin were runners up.

A special thankyou was also given to the many volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes at the club to keep things moving forward.

All in all it was a good night and from all reports the club, the players, and the staff are ready to do it all again next season in the National League South.
