IT was a clean sweep of wins for Taunton Vivary teams in last Thursday’s WSBL matches. The A and B teams were at home, both winning on two rinks for 10 points, while the C team went one better by winning on all rinks for the full 12 points, away at North Petherton C, 60 v 41.
However, the honours went to the B team, beating the league leaders Wellington A by one shot, 50 v 49, and thereby replacing them at the top of the table. The A team also went up a place, now sitting second after winning 45 v 42 against Bridgwater A.
Saturday’s Somerset County league matches were equally successful for Vivary.
The A team were at home to Portishead, and won on all rinks, by 60 v 44, to gain the full 12 points. The C team were also at home, to Ilminster D, and matched that result, scoring 12 points for a comfortable win by 71 v 39.
The B team travelled to Westland Sports, and followed up last week’s first win of the season with another after a 76 v 66 win. Alec Berry’s rink went down 15 v 30, but Dick Bridgeman’s rink won by 30 v 17, and Dennis Buckingham by 31 v 19 to secure the 10 points.
