CONGRATULATIONS must go to the Wellington AFC Disability adult sides who completed a remarkable double at the weekend.

Both teams won their league titles at the last Somerset Ability Counts League of the season at Strode College in Street.

The first team shared the premiership title with Park Knowle A, as they could not be separated on points or goal difference, while the development team won their title outright.

Manager and head coach Jason Fox said: “It was a great day for Wellington Disability.

“It’s not often you win two league titles in one day and I’m very proud of everyone involved.”

If you would like play or coach in the disability section – there is also a youth team from eight years and up – contact Jason on foxy.10@live.com or 07477100529.

The section are also looking for a new sponsor – please contact Jason if you are able to support their wonderful work.

In other news at Wellington AFC, the club has announced that captain and defender Mark Owen is the new player-manager of their Reserves.

Mark has just led the side to third place in division one of the Stitch2Print Devon and Exeter League - they are waiting to hear if that has earned them promotion.

He takes over from Nick Buttle who stepped down - along with coach Adam Weston - after one season in charge.
