TAUNTON Vivary Bowls Club Men’s B team are the new South West Division 1 champions.
They rounded off their season in the Saturday Somerset County League with a victory away at Wellington B.
Other teams have matches to play, but their points total cannot be caught.
They will now be promoted to Premier 2 for next season.
A spokesperson from the club said: "Congratulations to all who played their part in this success. The team lost only two matches in the season, each by a single shot!"
The final win was convincing, 87 v 39, for 10 points. Rink scores Dick Bridgeman 34 v 6, Dennis Buckingham 36 v 13, and Harry Scragg 17 v 20.
The other teams had mixed fortunes. The A team lost away at Bristol A, 48 v 78, for 2 points, while the C team won away at Ilminster D, 67 v 54, for 10 points.
This keeps alive their outside chance of promotion with three games to play.
