TAUNTON Town fought back to earn a draw at Weymouth on Tuesday night in tough conditions in front of a large home crowd.

The performance warranted some praise from Town's head of football Rob Dray.

He said: "I thought this was a great local derby, they were in the ascendency in the first half as you'd expect the home team to be, and we let in a soft goal.

"But we got to terms in the second half, we were the better side and deservedly took a point out of the game.

"It had everything this game really, some good football from both sides."

Dray added that he is still disappointed with some aspects of the game from his side.

"I am disappointed in some respects with some facets of our play but we did show some big minerals in the second half to come back like that.

"We had two more injuries tonight so to earn a point with a reduced squad was impressive."

On the topic of injuries, Malachi Linton, Ollie Chamberlain and Nat Jarvis picked up small knocks in the match.

Dray said: "Mal (Linton) picked up a jarred knee and Chamberlain and Jarvis have slight hamstring pulls, but they will be alright for selection on Saturday.

"That made it hard to manage pitch-side today, but the players who came on, Ross Stearn in particular, came on and did well which is good to see."

Looking forward, Dray said attention has to switch to the next game straight away.

"There is no respite in this league, every game is a hard, hard game, and another one comes up this Saturday in Welling.

"We have to enjoy that point though, every point you get in the National League South you need to enjoy.

"Our lads have put in a good shift over the last week, two away games, one in Essex and one in Weymouth, this league can be a slog."

Games come thick and fast in the league, but Dray finished it is all worth it when you play in front of a home crowd.

"We will get ourselves ready, dust ourselves off and be ready for Saturday.

"Playing at home always helps, our fans in Taunton are brilliant and they help us over the line all the time."

Taunton are back in action on Saturday at home against Welling.
