TAUNTON Deane Bowls Club Ladies team have progressed to the final of the Southey Trophy.
In the semi-final of the prestigous competition, the Taunton Deane side had to fight hard but they defeatted Portishead Royal British Legion ladies.
The match was played on the neutral rinks at St Andrew's Weston-super-Mare.
Each team won two of the four disciplines so the result was decided on shots with Taunton Deane taking the overall win by just six shots.
The team will now play either Keynsham or Ilminster in the final on Sunday, September 17.
In other news at the club, the Club’s Summer Competitions Finals will take place on Saturday, September 9 and 10.
A spokesperson said: "Come along and support your fellow bowlers, have a lovely lunch and enjoy 2 days of excellent bowling.
"With 21 finals taking place across indoors and outdoors there promises to be plenty of keenly contested games. Matches start at 10 am on both days.
"The programme of matches is on the Competitions Noticeboard and the easel in the Reception Area."
