TAUNTON Bowling Club Men’s B team have just won promotion from the Somerset County Bowls League South West Division 1 to Premier Division 2.
After a nail-biting start to the season the Taunton team led by captain Dick Bridgeman, lost their first two games by the narrowest margin of 1 point each.
However, they then bounced back and went on to win all of their remaining games to end up winning South West Division 1 by 11 points from their nearest rival Westlands Sports.
In other news on the local bowls circuit, SASP and Taunton Deane Bowling Club have teamed up to offer women aged 16+ the chance to try bowls with a 4 week course as part of the “In It Together” project.
It runs on Wednesdays between 4.30pm and 6.30pm, starting on October 11.
A spokesperson from the club said: "Come along and enjoy the challenge of trying something new guided by experienced coaches.
"The Club will supply all the equipment you need, just wear comfortable clothes and flat-soled shoes.
"Have a go at playing bowls at Taunton Deane Bowling Club, next to Blackbrook Leisure Centre and Spa, Taunton; there is a large free car park."
