TAUNTON Town's National League South game at Eastbourne Borough was abandoned at half time on Saturday (December 2) due to fog.

It was a disappointing conclusion to the match as in the first half Taunton were in control and had put in a much improved showing.

The Peacocks were leading 2-1 at the time, with Nick McCootie giving the visitors a 4th minute lead after he slotted home from a tight angle.

Zac Smith doubled the lead on 24 minutes when he scored from close range after Ollie Chamberlain’s shot had been saved.

The hosts, Eastbourne reduced the deficit eight minutes before the break when Leone Gravata’s delivery from the left ended up slipping from Dan Lavercombe’s clutches to cross the line.

With fog thickening it was decided to delay the start of the second half to see if visibility improved but this never looked likely and the referee eventually called the game off.

A new date for the game will be announced in due course.
