TAUNTON Town returned to their best at the weekend in a 4-0 win over Farnborough at home.

Head of football Rob Dray was impressed with his side going forward in the match but also was proud to finish with a clean sheet as well.

He said: "Fantastic performance all round, I think our performances in general over the last five or six games have been good and that was a culmination today of how good we have been.

"It was total domination today, four really good goals and most importantly a clean sheet."

Those goals were scored by Ollie Chamberlain, Lloyd James, Ross Stearn and Cameron Evans.

Those four players as well as the rest of the playing squad all put in a very impressive showing, all putting in top drawer performances.

Dray agreed, saying: "I don't think anybody was below an eight today, lots of eights and nines across the board.

"It is all about the players, what they have done and what they continue to achieve year in year out, they have been magnificent in this league so far and they will continue to be."

That led Dray into speaking on the past week at Taunton Town FC after rumours of pay disputes and difficult moments off the pitch circled through the week.

Dray said: "It has been a tough week here, but what I will say about this group of players after what has happened this week, to turn up like that, it is impressive.

"It is not very often you get a good group of players who gel together and are really good friends, I have massive respect for them and a huge amount of pride."

He added: "It has been in the paper that results probably have to improve, even though we have only lost four out of 17 games.

"We are 14th now, we have 28 points, five points off the playoffs with three games in hand so I think all those things add up to a pretty successful first half of the season."

Up next for Taunton is an away trip to Havant and Waterlooville on Saturday, December 16.

Dray said: "They have had a tough time of it but like we see in this league, top can beat bottom, bottom can beat top.

"They will be very, very dangerous, you can't take your foot off the gas in this league, but after today, we will be buoyed by that and we will be ready."
