SOMERSET are out of the 2nd XI Trophy despite taking three points from their last two group matches.

The Cidermen tied with Glamorgan and beat Worcestershire but Glamorgan's victory over Worcestershire on Tuesday means they progress to the semi-finals group winners.

On Monday, Somerset batted first at Worcester Royal Grammar School and made 311-7 in their 50 overs, thanks to 88 from Arul Suppiah, 60 from John Francis, 43 from Omari Banks and 35 by Keith Parsons.

In reply, Worcestershire were bowled out for 216 in the 43rd over. Leg spinner Max Waller was the pick of the bowlers with 2-46 off ten while Banks ended with 2-41 off 7.5 overs.

The penultimate match against Glamorgan at Taunton CC's Gipsy Lane last Friday ended in a thrilling tie.

Batting first Somerset scored 252-6, with skipper Wes Durston making an unbeaten 107, Arul Suppiah 49 and Robin Lett 33.

In reply Glamorgan went into the 50th over needing three runs to win and were all out for 252 when their last man was run out off the last ball, Tom Maynard making 98. Waller was the pick of the Somerset bowlers picking up 3-31 off his ten overs, the young leg spinner's best return for the county.

Somerset 2nds are next in action when they take on Essex at Taunton CC on Wednesday (July 23).
