TAUNTON Town's defeat on Boxing Day away against Yeovil was a tough one to take for the Peacocks fans as they were defeated by their fierce rivals.

For head of football Rob Dray it was also a difficult defeat to take, made worse by the manner of the loss.

Speaking after the match, Dray said: "I think Yeovil were very good, especially in the first half, they looked like the team at the top of the league for a reason.

"Our defending left a lot to be desired, which is usually pretty nailed on, and that's not just the back five, it is all of us, we needed to be more proactive today."

He said the Yeovil goals were perhaps avoidable.

"Credit to them really, but it was very avoidable goals, three long passes over the top and we needed to do better.

"But what I will say is in the second half the reaction from the players, we got a little territory and got up the pitch further and we made it more difficult for them."

Dray also touched on the issues off the pitch at the club at the moment.

"It was quite tough out there today and especially as there are a lot of things going on off the pitch at the moment, so credit to those boys today again.

"We are currently dealing with a local fulltime club that has enquired about Dylan (Morgan) and his mindset wasn't quite right for him to be in the matchday squad on Boxing Day.

"It is really crucial that we close ranks at the moment and look after those players, because they are doing a remarkable job in the current circumstances."

Looking ahead, Taunton host Yeovil on New Years Eve at the Somerset Campervan Co Stadium. The match is due to kick off at 2pm on Sunday.

Dray added: "It is quite a unique set of circumstances, but it is a different pitch (in Taunton) and it certainly wont play like this one (Huish Park).

"We have a lot to think about in the coming days, a lot to look at, there probably wont be many changes.

"But listen, we are at home to Yeovil in the league, if anybody said that two, three or four years ago they would have laughed at you, so we will not just be turning up."
