A young footballer from Bridgwater & Taunton College has signed for Bristol City FC after a successful trial.

Seventeen-year-old, 6ft 5ins Jack Hooper who plays as a left-footed centre-back has signed on a two-year scholarship.

Hooper, recently selected for England Under-18 Colleges, and will continue his educational studies alongside his football development at the Robins High Performance Centre.

A spokesperson from Bridgwater & Taunton College said: "We are proud to announce that BTC student Jack Hooper has signed to Bristol City FC!

"After successful performances in the FA Youth Cup he caught the eyes of the club and went on trial, now leading to him signing onto a 2 year scholarship."

The attention was also attracted to Jack as he represent England Colleges u18s where he was able to showcase his exceptional footballing ability.

"Jack will move into accommodation closer to the clubs High Performance Robins Centre where he will be able to train full time and continue his studies," the college added.

"We are immensely proud of Jack and his achievements and we wish him all the best with this exciting opportunity.
