National League South: Taunton Town 2-2 Aveley

TAUNTON Town put in a spirited performance to earn a point at home against high flying Aveley on Saturday (January 27).

The Peacocks came from behind twice in the second half to earn the draw and the result was in truth a fair one based on the two performances.

There was a change to the line-up as Nick Grimes was out with a hamstring injury meaning Lloyd James dropped back to centre back and Callum Dolman came into the starting eleven.

The first half was largely uneventful as neither side were really able to break down the opposition defence however the hosts enjoyed the most possession and perhaps would have felt like they should have been in front.

But the game opened up in the second period and it started with Aveley going in front in the 70th minute when Manny Ogunrinde headed home after a long throw.

However two minutes later the scores were level when Lloyd James picked put in a great corner which Rabby Tabu-Minzamba headed into the top of the goal.

In the 76th minute Aveley were awarded a penalty when Zac Bell brought down Coleman De-Grafts and Odelusi stepped up to convert.

Again, with an almost instant reply, Taunton levelled the scores after Zac Smith found Ollie Chamberlain in the middle of the box and his header deflected off Harry Gibbs and went in.

From there, Taunton pushed for the winning goal but Aveley tightened up at the back and the scoreline would remain unchanged.
