TAUNTON Town's National League South match against Weston-super-Mare AFC that was scheduled for this evening (February 27) has been postponed.

After a pitch inspection, the pitch was deemed unplayable as it is still waterlogged.

This won't come as much surprise after the rain that Somerset was hit by at the weekend, however it does mean the Peacocks have had their last four home games postponed.

A spokesperson for the club: "Following an afternoon inspection, this evening’s Vanarama National League South game with Weston-super-Mare at Wordsworth Drive has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

"A rearranged date for the fixture will be announced in due course. Any tickets already purchased will be valid for the new date but if a refund is required, please email support@fanbaseclub.com"

Yesterday (February 26) the club said: "There is a planned precautionary pitch inspection at Wordsworth Drive early tomorrow afternoon ahead of our fixture against WSM AFC."

That pitch inspection took place as promised and the postponement of the game came over five hours before kick off.

Taunton are next in action against Truro City on Saturday. Even though this match is an away game, it is set to be played at Wordsworth Drive due to the groundshare with the two clubs.
