National League South: Taunton Town 1-2 Chippenham Town

TAUNTON Town were defeated at home on Wednesday night (March 20) in front of a 669 strong crowd at Wordsworth Drive.

Chippenham Town scored an extra time winning goal to snatch the three points and move up to 12th place in the National League South table. Taunton meanwhile remain in 20th.

It was a lacklustre affair as both sides struggled to really get to their best in the match.

In the first half, Chippenham were able to defend an early Taunton push up the pitch, at one point they fiercely defended four corners in a row.

This gave the visitors confidence and they broke away in the 25th minute and after a long ball to Luke Spokes, he took a touch inside and finished past Lloyd Irish in net.

The score was 0-1 at the break and as the second period started, Taunton looked fired up in search of an equaliser.

From a cleared corner, Ollie Chamberlain took a touch and fired precisely into the bottom corner to level the scores on 52 minutes.

However from this point both sides played out what was a largely uneventful half of football, and at points the home side looked like they were happy with a draw.

Then in the 92nd minute Chippenham worked the ball out wide and a fairly simple cutback across the box landed at Pele Kouisseoue's feet and he tapped in for the winner.

The Peacocks now have to go again on Saturday, March 23 at home as Chelmsford City come to Taunton.
