National League South: Weston-super-Mare AFC 4-0 Taunton Town

TAUNTON Town were handed their fourth defeat in a row in the National League South as they lost away from home against Somerset rivals Weston-super-Mare AFC.

It was indeed a bad Good Friday for the Peacocks as the match ended 4-0 in favour of the Seagulls.

the home side were in control right from the off and held firm for the 90 minutes as they were at their best.

With just seven minutes played Reuben Reid released Bailey Kempster on the left to clip home into the far corner for 1-0.

James Dodd then played Reid through to double Weston’s lead on 36 minutes and at half time the score remained 2-0.

In the second half it was more of the same as a third goal came on 70 minutes when Jordan Bastin curled home from the edge of the box.

Keiran Thomas made it 4-0 three minutes later with a strike from the right into the far corner.

As the match went on, Taunton did create some chances to score but it was in vein and their relegation battle continues.

For Weston, they now sit in 15th place in the league table and have reached the 50 point milestone for the campaign.
