A DEPLETED Wellington side ended their Toolstation Premier Division season with a defeat to Brixham.
The fixture took place on Saturday, April 27 as Wellington had 11 players out due to injury or being unavailable.
Regardless, this did not deter the start of the game as they began on a high note with Harry Scott having a shot well saved.
Wellington moved ahead after 26 minutes, thanks to a cunning corner from Sully McKenna, which Kieran Bailey accurately headed in from the far post.
The tables turned quickly as Brixham, who currently hold the eighth position in the league, retaliated with two quick successive goals, leading 2-1 at the break.
Both goals were a product of Scott Robinson after breaking free in the 38th minute and repeating the feat three minutes later.
Jake Viney, the keeper, prevented Robinson from getting a hat-trick early in the second half.
Midfielder Glen Wright had to leave the field due to a hamstring injury, adding to Wellington's woes.
Brixham solidified their victory by seizing their third goal sixteen minutes before the final whistle.
Substitute Jaden Maslen seized the opportunity to score from a wide cross after the visitors lost possession.
Wellington came close to lessening the defeat margin when Sam Towler hit the bar right before the whifinalstle.
The final score was 3-1 to Brixham, but overall Wellington showed notable progress in the second half of the campaign, finishing 15th in the league table.
