Minehead AFC suffered a heavy defeat at The Recreation Ground on Saturday, April 19, losing 4-0 to Burnham United.
Despite having faced Burnham twice already this season and lost both matches, the Blues started the game brightly and had promising opportunities in the opening minutes.
Guy Burns and Bertie Harvey-Larmar both had chances to put the Blues ahead, keeping the pressure on their opponents.
Burns was fouled on the edge of the penalty area, but Sam Jackson's free-kick couldn't find the target.
Toby Waghorn had a half-chance, but visiting keeper Tom Edwards was alert to the danger.
Minehead showed good cohesion in their build-up play and continued to test Burnham's defence.
Burns came close again with a right-footed shot from the edge of the box, while a dangerous free-kick from Stefan Phillips was dealt with by the Burnham defence.
Will Singleton-Voss was presented with a good opportunity, but Edwards was equal to it.
Burnham weathered the storm and almost took the lead themselves when Nathan Bishop's 25-yard shot seemed destined for the top corner, but Minehead keeper Freddie Harvey-Larmar made a brilliant save, tipping it onto the bar.
The game changed after half an hour when Minehead’s defence failed to take several opportunities to clear the ball from the edge of their box, allowing Curtis Bradshaw to fire home.
Despite Waghorn's determination creating a couple of chances for himself, Minehead seemed to lose their earlier momentum and shape, as Burnham started to impose themselves more on the game.
Bradshaw was denied by the post after further errors and indecisions in The Blues defence.
Scott Kivell replaced Waghorn ten minutes into the second half, but shortly afterwards a firm shot from Bradshaw hit a bobble and bounced over the unfortunate keeper.
On the hour mark, the game was safely in Burnham’s hands when Bradshaw’s header was parried by Harvey-Larmar but fell kindly to James Chinnock who struck home from the edge of the box.
Bradshaw completed his hat-trick 18 minutes from time, finishing the scoring for the day with a shot past the keeper having beaten the last defender.
