Wellington AFC are on the hunt for a new manager after Richard Cherry recently stepped down from the role.

Tim Legg, the former manager, will take interim charge as the club seeks a permanent replacement.

Mr Cherry, who took over in May 2023, has been at the helm for two seasons.

He has decided to step down due to work, personal commitments, and the commute from his home in Torquay.

The club chairman, Mike Hall, said: "Richard feels he can no longer give the job his full energy, with work and personal commitments along with having to travel to and from his home in Torquay.

"He feels it would be in everyone’s interests if someone else takes over and we respect his decision.

"We’d like to place on record our sincere thanks for all his hard work and dedication during his time at Wellington AFC – there will always be a warm welcome for him at our club."

Last season, Wellington finished 13th in the Jewson Western League Premier Division – their best position, and with the highest points total, for a number of years.

Aspiring managers are invited to apply for the role by emailingadmin@wellingtonafc.co.uk by Thursday, July 31, providing details of previous experience and qualifications.
