Southern League Premier South: Taunton Town 1-1 Weymouth
Taunton Town were held to a 1-1 draw in their mid-week league encounter with Weymouth on Wednesday (September 10).
The Peacocks had to come from behind in this home fixture against Weymouth, who were relegated from National League South last season and have previously been in the National League.
Taunton Town manager Richard Luffman made a couple changes from the side that drew with Uxbridge last time out, with Tom Purrington and Bailey Croome coming in for Niall Thompson and Jacob Hodgson.
The visitors, managed by former Leicester City striker Steve Claridge, made the faster start with a header going over the bar and Frankie Phillips having to make a save – both inside the first eight minutes.

The Peacocks created their first chance on 25 minutes as Ben Seymour swivelled and nearly found the net with a strike.
Ten minutes later, some good link up play saw Alfie Moulden come close to open the scoring, and then a seemingly harmless cross from Josh Owers was spilled into the post and cleared.
As half time loomed, Owen Brain drifted in from the left and his right-foot strike had to be palmed over the bar. However, the scores remained level at half time.
In the early minutes of the second half, there were big chances at either end. Owen Brain’s cross couldn’t be converted by Seymour at one end, while at the other Reuben Reid’s effort just went over the bar.
However, it was the visitors who struck first on the hour mark.
Tom Bearwish got on the end of a cross to put The Terras in front.
Taunton Town set about trying to get level instantly, but a free kick from Jack Rice failed to test the Weymouth goalkeeper.
New signing Kelvin Lumbombo-Kalala made his dbut on 67 minutes, coming on for Rice. Kane Simpson also came on for Alfie Moulden.
With ten minutes plus stoppage time remaining, Taunton got their equaliser as Simpson held off the challenge of his marker and finished to level the scores.
A stoppage time miss in front of an open goal from Tom Purrington would have seen Taunton take all three points, but the spoils were shared.
