Southern League Premier South: Plymouth Parkway 2-1 Taunton Town
Taunton Town suffered their third defeat in four league games on Tuesday (October 14) night as they played nearly the whole match with 10-men.
Jack Rice got sent off in the opening minute in West Devon meaning the Peacocks had to play shorthanded for the majority of the match.
Despite the setback, Town did come back from a goal down to draw level through Niall Thompson’s first goal for the club, but ultimately Plymouth Parkway walked away with the win.
One change was made from the XI that lost to Chertsey at home on Saturday (October 11) as Jack Rice came in for Kane Simpson. However, Rice’s return to the starting team was short lived after he was shown a red card in the opening minute following an altercation with a Parkway player.

The Peacocks responded well to the setback though and the first dangerous attack went the way of Taunton as Ben Seymour found Josh Owers who forced an early corner.
Parkway’s first chance came on 18 minutes as a snap-shot tests Phillips in the Taunton goal.
Six minutes later though, the home side were in front as Parkway were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box and Rocky Neal stepped up to score.
On 34 minutes, former Taunton player Ryan Brett had a shot from distance which Phillips did well to smother but it remained 1-0 at half time.
It took Taunton only seven second-half minutes to restore parity as Owers’ pass found Thompson who slotted past the Plymouth goalkeeper.
The Peacocks almost took the lead just before the hour mark too as Seymour’s chip over the goalkeeper was cleared off the line.
But Parkway were back in front on 65 minutes through Jake Smith.
Taunton threw on Kane Simpson, Tom Purrington and Owen Brain to try and get an equaliser, but Plymouth Parkway ran out the 2-1 winners.
Speaking to the club’s media after the game, assistant manager Liam Harding, said: “We’re not happy to lose the game, a lot went against us – getting a red card after 20 seconds is always going to be an uphill battle.
“We can’t fault the effort; we can’t fault the commitment by all the players but ultimately the red card within the first 20 seconds has cost us the game.”
