Captain Tom Haines led the way as the England Lions claimed an eight-wicket win over the Australian Prime Minister’s XI in the two-day pink-ball match in Canberra, writes ECB reporters' network.
Haines backed up his two wickets and a stunning one-handed catch on day one by adding 77 with the bat as his side comfortably chased down the hosts' 308 for eight declared.
James Rew top-scored with a chanceless unbeaten 92 and shared a 137-run partnership with Asa Tribe (53 not out) to steer the Lions to victory.
Haines and opening partner Emilio Gay shared a century stand before the Durham batter felt his hamstring while turning for a run and later retired hurt on 56.
Their stand set the tone for a comfortable day for the Lions with the bat as they set about knocking off the bulk of the target before the lights came on.
Haines, who was named player of the match, was trapped lbw by Charlie Anderson after setting up the chase which Rew and Tribe completed with more than an hour still to play.
"That was a great performance from all of the lads. We haven’t played a lot of pink-ball cricket between us but that didn’t show in the way we played," Haines said.
"It was good to chip in with the ball and then to make some runs myself. The bowlers turned it around last night and then all our batters showed their quality to reach that target."
