Southern League Premier South: Bracknell Town 3-2 Taunton Town
Taunton Town edged closer to the drop zone in Southern League Premier South after extending their run without a win to five games.
After their game at Hungerford Town was called off due to a waterlogged pitch, the Peacocks had a 10-day break from their last game – a 1-1 draw at home to Dorchester Town.
Originally, this match with Bracknell Town was meant to be played at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium, but with the inclement weather, Taunton arranged to switch it to the Berkshire club’s home ground.

Manager Richard Luffman made a couple changes to the side that drew with Dorchester Town as new signings Tom English – a loanee from Bristol Rovers – and Chris Zebroski came into the starting XI for Tom Purrington and Alfie Moulden.
The first effort of the match went the way of the Peacocks as Ben Seymour’s shot was smothered on three minutes.
Five minutes later Frankie Phillips was nearly caught out by a powerful cross which he managed to palm to safety. The resulting corner was headed wide.
After 14 minutes, Taunton had another couple chances as Jack Rice had an effort blocked and Seidou Sanogo’s strike was headed away from danger.
Three minutes later Phillips was called into action again but was equal to an effort on goal.
Bracknell took the lead on 34 minutes as Seb Bowerman slide in to score after a one-two on the edge of the area.
On 41 minutes, and having had a shot blocked two minutes earlier, Jayden Nielsen struck the ball right-footed into the corner of the net to bring Taunton Town level.
The score remained 1-1 at half time.
A couple minutes into the second half and Taunton Town were behind again as a cross into the box is parried only as far as Jack Mazzone who scored.
On 51 minutes it was 3-1 as George Knight’s strike struck the post and went in.
Luffman rung the changes after that with Owen Brain, Alfie Moulden and new signing Noah Rubio all coming on. Tom Purrington also came on for Chris Zebroski.
With nine minutes to go, Jamie Richards headed over from a Tom English cross but Taunton reduced the deficit on 90 minutes as the ball ended up in the net following a goalmouth scramble.
Ultimately, the Peacocks could not find an equaliser and headed back to Somerset defeated.
Next up for Taunton Town is a trip to Evesham United who sit in 11th place on 24 points.
