Taunton Town have announced some new appointments in a bid to ‘stregthen’ their leadership team.

Former Bath City commercial director Peter Headington has been appointed as general manager. In his previous role at Bath City he played a role in establishing the women’s team and fostering partnerships with major sponsors.

Club legend Lloyd Irish, who earlier this week was appointed join caretaker manager of the first team, will hold the role of head of football in the long term.

Rich Smith, who is well known around the Cygnet Health Care Stadium, will take a newly-created community engagement officer role in a bid to ‘deepen ties within the community’.

Beth Milton has been appointed to bar and events manager and another popular figure at Taunton Town, Debbie Gould, will become head of matchday operations.

“Our club means so much to the community, and these appointments reflect our ambition to grow both on and off the pitch,” said Brian Pollard, Chairman. “We want to make our facilities more accessible, engage with local communities, and build a fanbase that truly represents the spirit of the Peacocks.

“The size of our club dictates that we should have a greater operational presence. It is not possible for one person to run our club successfully, and with these new fantastic appointments, the club is now in a far stronger position.”

Taunton Town’s next fixture at the Cygnet is on December 27 against Gloucester City. Kick off is 3pm.

Mr Pollard added: “We would love you all to rally round and help us achieve our goals. I can’t wait to see you all on the 27th.”
